Morciano di Leuca
It is a small but amazing town in Salento, also including the beautiful village of Barbarano del Capo and the Torre Vado marina, one of the tourist destinations most loved by tourists with the presence of very fresh water springs so loved by tourists. Morciano di Leuca boasts churches with baroque details as well as numerous underground oil mills, some of which can still be visited. In Morciano it is still visible, one of the towers of the suggestive military castle with a defensive function and dating back to the 14th century. Torre Vado itself takes its name from the presence of a coastal tower, once a lookout, dating back to the 16th century.
Torre Vado
As well as Marina in the municipality of Morciano di Leuca, it is appreciated for its spacious seafront and low coastline, washed by clear and clean water. Once called "li fiumi", the Sorgenti di Torre Vado are presences of soft but above all fresh water, used as a place of shelter and refreshment in hot summers. The coastal tower, once a lookout, (the tower from which Torre Vado takes its name) and the port frame a small inhabited centre, especially in summer. The Tower is a piece of local history: built in the 16th century by Charles V of Habsburg to defend the territory from the Saracens, it is called "cavallara" because a messenger on horseback left from there to reach the hinterland in case of danger of attack.
