Built between 1685 and 1709 by the hands of Baron Francesco Capece, the Sanctuary is located on the ancient route that pilgrims used to take to reach the Sanctuary of Santa Maria di Leuca.
In fact, it was a place of both prayer and refreshment, in fact the underground environments, were intended to give hospitality to those faithful who came from everywhere. Outside are visible the remains of the mill, the mangers and the ruins of the inn. The Sanctuary of Leuca Piccola has beautiful frescoes depicting Santa Lucia, Sant’ Oronzo (Patron Saint of Lecce), Santa Barbara, San Lazzaro, Santa Marina, San Gennaro, San Francesco da Paola and San Leonardo.
Another religious architecture to visit is the church of San Lorenzo, built around the middle of the sixteenth century, on the ashes of the ancient church of Santo Stefano, which was destroyed by the Turks.
